The Computer
Yes everyone uses a computer. No surprises there.
However at Action Exhaust Centre we have been using a computer since 1985.
Our current computer system which was developed by Tony's son, Neil for the business while he was at college in 1990, has several unique features which were specially written in at the request of Tony. Although now massively updated the same basic principles have been kept.
Some of these include a history of customer visits to the Garage so we are always appraised of what parts have been fitted in the past by us.
This may not sound particularly amazing but when you consider that many other garages usually start any warranty claim with the phrase "Where is your receipt?" is something we did not want for ourselves.
The computer indicates to us the exact fitting date and what parts we fitted. This means if you happened to be driving to work and heard something odd you don't need to run home and hunt for that bit of paper. Just drive in and we can immediately identify any problems without any worry.
The computer also carries current and historical stock levels of the thousands of exhausts in the garage. Not only can we quote for a product but we can immediately tell you if we can do the job there and then. In over 85% of cases we carry the exhaust in stock. How many garages have you called recently that reply "We can get it by Monday Dinnertime!".
We also are not hampered by only having 1 supplier. We have always 8 suppliers on hand offering quality parts.
